‘Slingshot’ Trailer: Casey Affleck And Laurence Fishburne Have A Break From Reality In Deep Space

Who doesn’t love a good deep-space psychological thriller movie? Rocket a few A-list celebs into space, and watch them have a break from reality. Good stuff. It’s been done plenty of times before in some truly great films (Ad Astra is a prime recent example), and the formula is almost always a good time. And now the film Slingshot hopes to be next on your must-see list, as it stars Laurence Fishburne and Casey Affleck.

The film is directed by veteran Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström, known for the Stephen King adaptation 1408, The Rite, and Outside the Wire.

Here’s the synopsis: Slingshot follows an astronaut who struggles to maintain his grip on reality aboard a possibly fatally compromised mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan.

Along with Fishburne and Affleck, the cast is rounded out by Håfström regular Emily Beecham, Tomer Capone, David Morrissey, and Mark Ebulué.

Bleecker Street will release Slingshot in theaters on August 23rd.
