‘The Wives’: Jennifer Lawrence To Star In ‘Real Housewives’-Inspired Murder Mystery

Following her comedic turn in the underrated sex comedy No Hard Feelings, Jennifer Lawrence is turning her attention to true crime. Or as true as it gets when you’re talking about Real Housewives. Deadline reports Lawrence will star in The Wives, an Apple Original murder mystery that A24 will co-produce.

The Academy Award winner will star in The Wives, a murder mystery inspired by the Real Housewives franchise of reality shows. Other plot details are unknown at this point, but the film will have a script by Circle Jerks playwrights Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley.

Lawrence will also produce the film under her Excellent Cadaver banner. She’ll be joined as a producer by Zola writer Jeremy O. Harris, who recently debuted the HBO doc Slave Play. Not A Movie. A Play about his Tony Award-nominated Broadway show.

This will be a reunion between Lawrence, A24, and Apple as they previously collaborated on the veteran PTSD drama Causeway in 2022. Apple won the film rights in what is being described as a “highly competitive situation” and it’s easy to see why. Lawrence is capable of bringing accolades and box office, a rare commodity in Hollywood nowadays. A director still needs to be fond, but with Lawrence attached that search shouldn’t take long.
