Okay, fellow supes. There’s good news and bad news this week. The good is that The Boys season 4 hits Prime Video this week, and early reviews have been strong. And now here’s the bad: season 5 will be the series’ last, announced today by creator and showrunner Eric Kripke.
“Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
Readers of Garth Ennis’ R-rated comic know that the show has been creeping up to this point, anyway, so Kripke’s announcement won’t be a total shock. Still, we’re talking a series that has consistently been one of the most-watched for Prime Video since the day it arrived.
Here’s the synopsis for season four, which hits Prime Video on June 13th.
In the season, Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the control of Homelander. With only months to live, Billy Butcher must find a way to work with The Boys if they want to save the world.
Karl Urban returns as Billy Butcher, joined by Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, Cameron Crovetti, Valorie Curry, and Susan Heyward.
We should also note that Amazon will continue having The Boys content. Gen V is coming back for a second season, and a new Mexican spinoff led by Gael Garcia Bernal is on the way.
