An hour has passed, so that means there’s been another addition to Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man, the third movie in his Knives Out franchise. According to Deadline, Kerry Washington is joining the long list of suspects who will be put under the investigative eye of Detective Benoit Blanc.
Washington joined the cast mere hours after Andrew Scott and Glenn Close were announced for the film. Daniel Craig returns as world-weary Detective Benoit Blanc, with Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny, also in the cast. Of course, plot details are being kept a mystery for now, but Johnson will direct from his own screenplay.
The first Knives Out earned $312M when released in 2019, while the sequel, Glass Onion, was released on Netflix in 2022.
Not that Washington needs any introduction given her career accomplishments. She’s probably best known for her Emmy nominated performance in the long-running series Scandal, and similar accolades for Little Fires Everywhere, and the political thriller Confirmation. She has also starred in the films Ray, Django Unchained, and let’s not forget she played Alicia Masters in Fox’s Fantastic Four movies. Coming up, Washington has Tyler Perry’s Six Triple Eight in which she plays real-life soldier Charity Adams, and Joe Carnahan’s action film Shadow Force.
Wake Up Dead Man is expected to hit Netflix in 2025.
