Following the teaser released just a couple of weeks ago, Searchlight Pictures has quickly dropped the full trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness. It’s easy to see why they’d want to strike while the iron is hot, considering the four Oscars earned by Poor Things, including Best Actress for star Emma Stone who is also part of this cast.
Lanthimos has surrounded Stone with a cast that includes Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Margaret Qualley, Mamoudou Athie, Joe Alwyn, and Hunter Schafer. The filmmaker, who co-wrote the script with frequent collaborator Efthimis Filippou, has described it as “a contemporary film, set in the US – three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story”.
Kinds of Kindness will also be heading to Cannes, marking the fourth film by Lanthimos to have its world premiere at the prestigious festival.
Here’s the synopsis: KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.
Searchlight Pictures will release Kinds of Kindness on June 21st.
