‘Mercy’: Rebecca Ferguson And Chris Pratt To Star In Sci-Fi Thriller From ‘Ben-Hur’ Remake Director

What better way to follow-up the huge opening weekend of Dune: Part Two than with a new gig? Rebecca Ferguson will star in Mercy, a new sci-fi thriller that’ll see her teaming up with Chris Pratt. The film is set up at Amazon MGM Studios, and has Timur Bekmambetov directing.

Penned by Marco van Belle, Mercy is set in the near future when capital crime has increased. Pratt plays a detective accused of a violent crime and must prove his innocence. Ferguson’s role has not been made clear at this point.

Amazon MGM are said to be very high on the film and will give it a theatrical release. They have reason for optimism with Ferguson and Pratt attached, as both are solid box office draws. Ferguson was also seen recently in Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning, while Pratt scored a billion-dollar hit voicing The Super Mario Bros. Movie and reprised his role as Star-Lord in Marvel finale Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Bekmambetov is known as the creator of the “Screenlife” series of films including Unfriended, Searching, and most recently Profile in 2021 which he directed. He also directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the Ben-Hur remake.

Production on Mercy is planned for the spring. [Deadline]
