‘Totally Killer’ Trailer: Kiernan Shipka Takes On The ’80s And A Serial Killer In Blumhouse’s Time Travel Slasher Comedy

The partnership between Amazon Prime Video and Blumhouse, which has already given us the Welcome to the Blumhouse anthology, continues with teen time travel slasher-comedy Totally Killer. Before the film arrives on October 6th and while we wait for a trailer, Prime Video has dropped some first-look images featuring stars Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen, and Randall Park.

Shipka stars as a 17-year-old who finds herself accidentally traveling back in time to 1987, the year of the original killings by the “Sweet Sixteen Killer”, who has just arrived in the present day to kill again.

The whole tone of the trailer is exactly as I hoped, which is a mix of Final Girls and Happy Death Day. Shipka should be right at home having spent years balancing humor and horror in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Behind the camera is Always Be My Maybe director Nahnatchka Khan, reuniting with Park on this one. The script is by Jen D’Angelo, David Matalon, and Sasha Perl-Raver.

Also in the cast are Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Liana Liberato, Kelcey Mawema, Anna Diaz, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Ella Choi, Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar, Nathaniel Appiah, and Jonathan Potts.

Synopsis: Thirty-five years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer“ returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. Seventeen-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever.
