If you were to cross the visual style and attitude of Spring Breakers with the self-aware tone and over-the-top action of Charlie’s Angels, the result would look something like Sheroes. The all-female action flick centers on four best friends from different backgrounds whose trip to Thailand is thrown into chaos when one is kidnapped by a drug cartel. But rather than turning to the corrupt police for help, these ladies band together and take the fight to them to save their friend.
Leading the cast is model and actress Sasha Luss, in her first major role since breaking out in a pair of Luc Besson actioners, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and 2019’s assassin thriller Anna.
In Sheroes, Luss plays Diamond, whose lust for life is only matched by the loyalty to her friends. Luss is joined in the cast by Wallis Day (Batwoman), Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan), and Skai Jackson (Bunk’d).
I had the pleasure of speaking with Sasha Luss about Sheroes, her background in modeling and ballet and how they inform her acting, and of course kicking butt with all of these awesome ladies.
Sheroes opens in select theaters and digitally on June 23rd!
