As if the summer wasn’t hot enough, Christopher Nolan is going to take it nuclear with his upcoming film, Oppenheimer. The film stars frequent collaborator Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the men chiefly responsible for the creation of the atomic bomb. That makes him a figure who some will find difficult to see put on any kind of a pedestal, but Nolan clearly thinks he deserves it, saying recently “Like it or not, J. Robert Oppenheimer is the most important person who ever lived. He made the world we live in — for better or for worse. And his story has to be seen to be believed, and I am certainly hopeful audiences will come to your theaters to see it on the biggest screens possible.”
The incredible ensemble Nolan has put together includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey, Jr., Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Matthew Modine, Kenneth Branagh, Jason Clarke, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck, Michael Angarano, Dane DeHaan, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, Casey Affleck, and Gary Oldman as Harry Truman.
Oppenheimer hits theaters on July 21st.
