Fans of Netflix’s hit series The Witcher were stunned when star Henry Cavill announced his exit. Of course, this all happened around the time when it seemed he’d be rejoining the DCEU, and we know how that turned out. So with this upcoming third season, Cavill be suiting up as Geralt for the final time before handing the sword over to Liam Hemsworth. Will fans of the show take to this transition? How much of an impact will there be on viewership?
I won’t pretend to know what’s going on with the show right now, so here’s the official season synopsis:
As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.
The first half of The Witcher‘s third season hits Netflix on June 29th, followed by the second half on July 27th.
