‘Animal Friends’: Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, & Aubrey Plaza Set For R-Rated Road Comedy

Ryan Reynolds, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Momoa, and Vince Vaughn are teaming up for a new road trip comedy that promises to be both funny and very vulgar. Here’s the thing: it’ll also be a live-action animation hybrid with an ‘R’ rating.

Deadline reports Reynolds will headline Animal Friends, joined by Plaza, Momoa, and Vaughn. The film will be directed by Peter Atencio, of the Key & Peele comedy Keanu, from a screenplay by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.

Other details have yet to be revealed, but the title certainly suggests the characters will be anthropomorphic animal buddies.

The film is set up at Legendary, which worked with Reynolds previously on the hit video game adaptation, Detective Pikachu. It’s a partnership that’s been successful before, so could it be again?
