‘Insidious: The Red Door’ Trailer: Patrick Wilson Takes The Helm For The Horror Franchise’s Final Chapter

Evil just won’t leave Patrick Wilson alone. Already the star of multiple films in The Conjuring Universe, Wilson also faces the dark side as part of the Insidious franchise. Following 2018’s Insidious: The Last Key, a sidequel that did not feature Wilson, he returns as patriarch Josh Lambert in Insidious: The Red Door.

So what’s different this time? Well, for one thing, the film marks Wilson’s directorial debut. You can’t say he doesn’t know the franchise, same as his returning co-stars Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Andrew Astor, and Lin Shaye.

Screenwriter Scott Teems takes his first swing at Insidious, having previously written Halloween Kills and Firestarter. Leigh Whannell, who launched the franchise and has been involved with each film, developed the story.

Here’s the synopsis for what is expected to be the final chapter: In “Insidious: The Red Door,” the horror franchise’s original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh and a college-aged Dalton must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.

Insidious: The Red Door hits theaters on July 7th.
