The debut episode of The Mandalorian‘s third season, “The Apostate”, features the return of The Armorer (Emily Swallow), as well as the Anzellan Droidsmiths. The latter were first introduced in the otherwise forgettable The Rise of Skywalker, represented at the time by fan-favorite character Babu Frik.
To celebrate the series’ return, Disney has dropped two new character posters featuring The Armorer as well as the Anzellans. We see The Armorer right off the bat as she’s leading a Mandalorian ritual, which is then interrupted by a creature attack. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) comes to the rescue, then informs The Armorer that he will head to Mandalore and do whatever it takes to get back in good standing with his tribe. He was expelled from the group for removing his helmet, something a Mandalorian is never to do. The Armorer gives her thumbs up to this likely-doomed mission.
The Anzellan Droidsmiths show up as Din Djarin needs their help to repair IG-11, the assassin droid initially tasked with murdering Grogu, but ended up sacrificing itself to protect him. Now, Din Djarin sees it as the only droid he can trust, and fortunately for him, Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) has kept its pieces on display in honor.
This is slightly different from the Anzellans role in The Rise of Skywalker, where Babu Frik rewired C-3PO’s circuits to help Poe, Finn, and Rey translate an ancient Sith language. The Anzellans have become quite popular among Star Wars faithful and their kind is likely to be seen a lot for many years to come.
New episodes of The Mandalorian debut every Wednesday morning on Disney+. Check out the new images below along with previously released posters of the cast.
