Zachary Levi Talks Future Of ‘Shazam’ As New ‘Fury Of The Gods’ Clip Arrives

Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives next month in the midst of sweeping changes to the DCU. It’s unclear what the future holds for any of the four DC films arriving this year, as James Gunn and Peter Safran have their own ideas taking shape. If it’s up to Shazam himself, Zachary Levi, he’d be playing the role for a long time, but concedes to Den of Geek the future depends on the success of the sequel…

“As fate would have it, we have two new excellent leaders in James Gunn and Peter Safran. They’re both friends of mine who I trust very deeply, and I know that they are concocting really cool plans. I don’t know what they are, but I will trust wherever they want to take us.”

“There’s definitely little ideas here and there that I brought up in the past. I’m sure I’m gonna sit down with James and Peter soon enough, and we’ll talk about what we think the trajectory of all this will be. The success of the second movie will determine a lot.”

Levi adds, “There’s definitely little ideas here and there that I brought up in the past. I’m sure I’m gonna sit down with James and Peter soon enough, and we’ll talk about what we think the trajectory of all this will be. The success of the second movie will determine a lot.”

Meanwhile, a new clip from Fury of the Gods has arrived, and it features Levi’s Shazam face-to-face with Helen Mirren’s villainous Hespera. And Shazam, being a kid at heart, turns to the Fast & the Furious franchise to get across that he’s got plenty of backup because, y’know, it’s all about FAMILY! Boom! The rest of his super-powered adoptive siblings arrive.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on March 17th.
