‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ Tied With ‘Eternals’ For Marvel’s Lowest Rotten Tomatoes Score

Unsurprisingly, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania dominated the domestic box office, and despite a lower-than-expected start internationally, it still ended the weekend with $357M worldwide. That’s great news for Marvel Studios who were looking for a strong start to Phase 5. However, despite the solid numbers financially, there’s another number they can’t be so happy about.

47%

OOF! Yeah, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has a “Rotten” critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, becoming only the second MCU movie to gain that ignoble honor. The other one is 2021’s Eternals, which has the same 47% score.

Where the divide occurs is in the Audience Score, with Ant-Man 2 achieving an 84% there. Eternals only managed 77%.

Personally, I think the scores of both movies are exaggerated. I didn’t love the film by any means, but appreciated its scope, Paul Rudd’s humor, and of course, Jonathan Majors’ Kang kicks ass. We’ve seen Marvel shuffling some things around and it has to be to fine-tune their upcoming slate and break this cycle of middling films that they’ve been in since Phase 4.
