With Pedro Pascal hosting last night’s SNL, it was inevitable that we’d get some kind of spoof of his hit HBO series, The Last of Us. And they did not let us down. Set in another grim, post-apocalyptic reality, Pascal is again forced to escort another young woman in a brilliant fake trailer for Mario Kart.
Pascal dons the red hat, mustache, and corny Italian accent of Mario in the Mario Kart spoof. Tasked with escorting Princess Peach through the dangerous Rainbow Road, facing deadly Koopas, meeting “complex, dramatic” and bisexual, versions of Yoshi and Toad, all while avoiding the deadly Bowser who controls the kingdom. Watch out for those deadly red turtle shells!!
“Karting out here isn’t a game. If we’re going to make it, we’re going to need all the help we can get,” Pascal’s Mario says ominously.
