‘Evil Dead Rise’ Trailer: Sam Raimi’s Horror Franchise Is Back And Bloodier Than Ever

It’s a big deal when Sam Raimi hand-picks someone to carry on his Evil Dead franchise. But that’s what he’s done with director Lee Cronin, who has taken the helm for Evil Dead Rise, the fifth movie in the series and the first since Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead in 2013. We’ve seen what that reboot did for his career. Could the same happen for Cronin, whose breakout was 2019’s The Hole in the Ground?

Following yesterday’s teaser, the first trailer for Evil Dead Rise has arrived. Starring Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis, the story finds reunited sisters in a primal battle for survival against flesh-possessing demons!

Early word is Cronin goes absolutely nuts on the blood and gore for this one. If that’s what you’re looking for, check out the red band version of the trailer which you can also find below.

Evil Dead Rise opens on April 21st.

In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.
