Shawn Levy In Talks To Direct A New ‘Star Wars’ Film Following ‘Deadpool 3’ And ‘Stranger Things’ Commitments

It appears that Lucasfilm is starting to get its ducks in a row when it comes to Star Wars on the big screen. With a date set in 2025 that could be for Taika Waititi’s movie, or maybe Kevin Feige’s, a new possibility has emerged. Deadline reports that Shawn Levy will direct a future Star Wars movie, but not until his commitments to Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things are completed.

With so much on his plate already, Levy isn’t likely to hit that 2025 date. So that means it could be moved until later, or another film will be in that spot. Either way, that Lucasfilm has reached out to Levy indicates some direction on their part. It also means they are looking to make a film that will appeal to the widest possible mainstream audience.

Why do I say that? Because Levy is one of those directors who is easy to underestimate. He doesn’t do anything fancy, but with blockbuster hits such as Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Free Guy, and more to his credit, he makes movies that people want to pay to see. He was a logical choice to reconnect with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for Deadpool 3, and he also serves as an exec-producer on Netflix’s hit Stranger Things.

Hopefully, more details will emerge on this soon.
