Few, probably including John Krasinski himself, could have predicted A Quiet Place would launch a mega-hit franchise for Paramount. The first two films, including one released during the pandemic, have combined for over $600M, which isn’t bad for an original brand in this day and age. A third film led by Emily Blunt and the rest of the cast is coming in 2025, but it’s the planned spinoff that has been largely a secret until now.
Paramount revealed at CinemaCon that the spinoff of A Quiet Place is a prequel titled A Quiet Place: Day One. The film was originally to be directed by Jeff Nichols, but he dropped out and Pig director Michael Sarnoski took over.
Based on the title, we can guess the story will center on the first arrival of the monsters that hunt using sound. We’ve seen glimpses of this day already, most notably in an awesome sequence in A Quiet Place: Part II, and it’ll be cool to see that expanded on.
A Quiet Place: Day One opens September 22nd, 2023
