Is it finally time to write off Ezra Miller? The Flash and Fantastic Beasts actor has found it difficult to stay out of trouble, beginning with a video of him choking a woman back in 2020, followed just last month by an arrest in Hawaii after an altercation at a bar. And now Miller is in trouble with the law again, with the most disturbing trend his tendency towards violence.
According to the Hawaii Police Department, Ezra Miller was arrested again last night for “second degree assault”. That’s a no-joke charge that isn’t going to go away easily. The incident finds Miller allegedly throwing a chair at a woman causing a small cut on her forehead.
Even worse, Variety has a statement from the Hawaii assistant police chief who says Miller has been the source of ten police calls (!!!) in Hilo since March 7th.
It’s not lost on me that the most-public of these incidents seem to involve Miller’s aggression towards women. This simply cannot stand, and expect Warner Bros. to take action. While they reportedly are ready to hit the pause button on future projects with Miller, they need to do something ASAP, in particular because of their response to the Johnny Depp situation. Shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, a 29-year-old visitor from Vermont was arrested for second-degree assault after an incident at a residence in Pāhoa.
At 1:10 a.m., Puna patrol officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred at a get-together at a private residence in the Leilani Estates subdivision in lower Puna.
During the course of their investigation, police determined that the individual, later identified as Ezra Miller, became irate after being asked to leave and reportedly threw a chair, striking a 26-year-old female on the forehead, resulting in an approximate half-inch cut.
The female victim refused treatment for her injury.
Miller, who identifies as they/them, was subsequently arrested at 1:30 a.m. for Assault in the second degree after being located on the roadway during a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 130 and Kukula Street in Kea‘au.
After conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, at 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday morning Miller was released pending further investigation. This is an active investigation.
