‘John Wick 4’ Heads To March 2023, Avoiding Dogfight With ‘Top Gun: Maverick’

We kinda knew this was coming. There was no way the Keanu Reeves vs. Tom Cruise showdown on May 27th 2022 was going to happen. Too much money would be left on the table. Lionsgate has announced John Wick: Chapter 4 has moved off that date and into 2023, when it’ll open on March 24th.

That’s right, we’ll have to wait until 2023 to see John Wick up his kill count.  The reason for the move has to be the presence of Top Gun: Maverick, which now has Memorial Day weekend to itself.

John Wick 4 is once again directed by Chad Stahelski, and sees Reeves joined by Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Clancy Brown.

It’s no coincidence this announcement was made today on the release of The Matrix Resurrections. What better time than now when fans are too busy watching Reeves suit up as Neo for the first time in 20 years.
