The comic book duo of writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely have done some of the best comics in recent memory, including We3, New X-Men, and All-Star Superman. That kind of track record isn’t easy to match, and Netflix is pulling out all of the stops to make sure their adaptation of Morrison and Quitely’s superhero epic Jupiter’s Legacy is everything fans would want it to be.
The first teaser for the Jupiter’s Legacy series has arrived, and while there’s no actual footage it does reveal a release date of May 7th 2021. We also get a little bit of narration from star Josh Duhamel, who plays Golden Age hero Sheldon Sampson aka the Utopian, leader of a group of heroes known as The Union.
“One day you’re going to be stronger than anyone else in the world. Every evil you can imagine is going to rise up against mankind, not for justice, but for vengeance. And you’re going to be the future.”
The series follows the clash of ideals between the Utopian and older costumed heroes as they pass the torch to the next generation, who struggle to live up to their legacy.
Also in the cast are Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, Matt Lanter, Tenika Davis, Anna Akana, and X-Men actor Tyler Mane.
Running the show is creator Steven S. DeKnight, best-known for Pacific Rim: Uprising, and his time as showrunner on Daredevil and Spartacus. The guy knows his stuff.
