Justin Lin Won’t Direct ‘Fast & Furious 11’, Either

The engines backfired on Fast X last night when director Justin Lin dropped out just days into production. While the split seemed amicable, with Lin sticking around to produce, it’s also very clear that something went majorly wrong for him to exit the franchise he helped turn around through five films beginning with Tokyo Drift.

Insider now reports that Lin won’t direct Fast 11, either, so he’s basically done as it is expected to be the franchise’s big finale and the second chapter to the story begun in Fast X.

So now we know producers will be on the hook to find either two different directors, or one who has the time to tackle two movies. That all but wipes David Leitch off the list of contenders as the Bullet Train director is busy already working on a Fall Guy film with Ryan Gosling. The other contender is F. Gary Gray, who previously directed Fate of the Furious which fans disliked and necessitated bringing Lin back in the first place.
