How quickly can Apple get this to me because I want it now! Florence Pugh, the Little Women and Midsommar star who is on the verge of a huge breakout with Black Widow, is set to star in a sci-fi courtroom drama from the writing duo of Drew Pearce and Vanessa Taylor, who are pretty exciting in their own right.
Deadline says Pugh will star in Dolly, which is inspired by a short story from author Elizabeth Bear. The story follows a robotic sex doll that kills its owner, then shocks the world by demanding a lawyer. This as police must determine if the robot was a murder weapon or the culprit.
Pugh is on an incredible roll, and scoring her for the film is a coup as she’s certain to be an even bigger star when the film opens. Pearce is probably best known for writing Iron Man 3, but he also scripted Hobbs & Shaw, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, and directed Hotel Artemis.
Taylor is an Oscar nominee whose impressive credits include The Shape of Water, Hillbilly Elegy, and Divergent.
No word on when Dolly will appear on Apple TV+. As it stands, the film has not been officially greenlit as the script needs to be written and a director named. So this could be a while.
