‘Borderlands’ Cast Adds Jack Black As The Voice Of Claptrap

It’s going to be a Jack Black reunion party on the Borderlands set! Black is the latest to join the video game adaptation, and he’ll be reteaming with his House with a Clock in its Walls co-star Cate Blanchett and that movie’s director Eli Roth, as well as his Jumanji pal Kevin Hart. Also in the cast is Jamie Lee Curtis, who came aboard only recently.

Black will be voicing the character Claptrap, the snarky robot that adds comic relief to the first-person shooter games. Blanchett will play the siren Lilith, Hart is the solder Roland, and Curtis the archaeologist Tannis. The story follows Vault Hunters seeking out an alien treasure on the planet Pandora.

“I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth,” Roth said. “Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.”

Black has exactly the right type of personality for Claptrap, and just as the character has the best lines in the game I expect he’ll have the best in the movie. [Deadline]
