Blockbuster movies have come pretty easily for Chris Pine, and his most successful have in Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 with director Patty Jenkins. So as she prepares to make the leap over to Star Wars with her Rogue Squadron film, could Pine be looking to join her in a galaxy far far away?
Well, according to Pine in a conversation with Collider, he’s already spoken to Jenkins about the film and what she has planned, but that’s it. Nothing more.
“I had spoken to her about, not my involvement, but the story,” said Pine. “She talked to me about it. It sounds really, really great. But I’m ecstatic for her, excited for what she’s about to embark on. If there’s anyone that can reimagine and breathe fresh, new life into it, it’s her.”
Rogue Squadron is still about three years away, so chances are Jenkins didn’t have a ton of details to give Pine. That said, what she did tell him seems to have left an impression, and that’s all the more reason to be excited for it. I can totally see Pine behind the cockpit of an X-Wing, too, and since he’s already done Star Trek this is the natural next move.
