Battlestar Galactica, like the robotic Cylons themselves, is proving remarkably resilient. The original sci-fi series led to a beloved reboot that, only a few years after going off the air, is now getting yet another relaunch on Peacock. But that simply isn’t enough, as Universal is also moving forward on a feature film, and it’ll be led in part by X-Men franchise veteran Simon Kinberg.
THR reports Kinberg will write and produce a new Battlestar Galactica film, which Universal has been trying to get off the ground for nearly a decade. No director is currently attached, although Bryan Singer and Francis Lawrence have been involved in the past along with a host of different writers.
Battlestar Galactica follows the last remnants of humanity as they travel in starships, led by the Galactica, in hopes of finding a new home, all the while chased by destructive machines known as Cylons.
Kinberg was one of the longtime architects of Fox’s X-Men franchise, and recently made his directorial debut on Dark Phoenix. He’s on the verge of releasing his star-studded spy thriller, 355.
