‘Re-Creation’ Trailer: Jim Sheridan Returns With A Courtroom Drama Starring Vicky Krieps

Jim Sheridan, the renowned Irish filmmaker behind In America, In the Name of the Father, and (somehow) Get Rich or Die Tryin’, has a new courtroom drama on the way. Re-Creation won’t be hitting theaters, however, which is criminal if you ask me. Instead, it will be available for streaming and DVD on October 27th.

Joined by David Merriman, Sheridan co-directs, co-writes, and takes a small role in Re-Creation, about a fictional jury deliberating the verdict of the real-life 1996 murder trial of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. The depiction of the jury closely resembles the classic legal drama Twelve Angry Men.

The film marks Sheridan’s first since The Secret Scripture a decade ago.

Sheridan is joined in the Re-Creation cast by Vicky Krieps, Colm Meaney, John Connors, Brendan Conroy, Brian Doherty, Tristan Heanue, Gilbert K. Sheridan, and Aidan Gillen.

SYNOPSIS: Re-Creation is a riveting depiction of a murder trial that never took place. Twelve members of a fictional jury must decide whether British journalist Ian Bailey is guilty of the murder of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan du Plantier in 1996. Based on shocking real events, the film dramatically depicts jury deliberations that invite the audience to think about what shapes our sense of guilt and innocence. Co-Directed by Academy Award® nominee Jim Sheridan and inspired by 12 Angry Men, Re-Creation is a heady and haunting courtroom thriller that invites the viewer to draw their own conclusions.
