An ice cold serial killer flick in the dead of summer? Yes, please. Netflix has released the trailer for The Whisper Man, starring Adam Scott, Robert De Niro, and Michelle Monaghan in an adaptation of Alex North’s bestselling thriller novel.
Scott once again plays a troubled author as he did in the horror hit, Hokum. In The Whisper Man he’s a crime novelist whose eight-year-old son is kidnapped. Down to the last resort, he turns to his estranged father, a retired detective played by De Niro, to solve the case. He discovers a connection between the boy’s abduction and the years-old case of convicted serial killer known as The Whisper Man.
The cast is strong from top to bottom and includes Hamish Linklater, Owen Teague, Acston Luca Porto, and Will Brill.
The film is directed by James Ashcroft, who has built a name for himself on tense psychological thrillers Coming Home in the Dark and The Rule of Jenny Pen.
The Russo Bros., through their long-running collaboration between Netflix and AGBO, are aboard as producers.
The Whisper Man hits Netflix on August 28th.
