Prime Video has debuted the trailer for The Last Sunrise, Carlson Young’s adaptation of the hit book by Anna Todd, author of the long-running After series that became a hit movie franchise. The film stars Pretty Little Liars‘ Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez, and Eva Longoria, exploring the clash between young love and chronic illness that has been central to so many YA romances in recent years.
SYNOPSIS: Based on the beloved novel, The Last Sunrise follows Ry (Maia Reficco), a college student with a chronic illness, on a summer escape to Mallorca with her mother (Eva Longoria). As she unexpectedly falls for Julián (Fernando Lindez) and begins to embrace living in the moment, her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to unravel everything before the summer ends.
Young directs from a screenplay by Anna Klassen. I interviewed Young a few years ago for her impressive directorial debut, The Blazing World. She has since directed Upgraded, also for Prime Video, and the Sophie Turner-led thriller, Trust.
The Last Sunrise hits Prime Video on August 26th.
