One of the most interesting aspects of Superman: Man of Tomorrow to look forward to is Lex Luthor in his powerful warsuit. Well, James Gunn knows that’s what fans want to see, and he’s delivered a first look at Nicholas Hoult’s Luthor in the comics-accurate battle suit.
Gunn revealed the image on social media with the caption “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.”
Production began in April and continues in Atlanta through August.
The film finds Luthor teaming up with his nemesis, Superman, against the alien threat of Brainiac. David Corenswet returns as the Man of Steel, with Lars Eidinger as the villainous Brainiac.
Also in the cast are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathon Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Adria Arjona as Maxima and Aaron Pierre reprising his Lanterns role as Green Lantern John Stewart. Matthew Lillard recently signed on for an unspecified role.
A lot is riding on this sequel to match or even surpass the $618M box office of Superman. It was well-received by critics and audiences alike, but superhero sequels have been tough sells lately. We’ll see what happens when Man of Tomorrow hits theaters on July 9th 2027.
