‘Protecting Jared’: Jason Momoa To Star In Hawaii-Set Action-Comedy With Andy Samberg, Jai Courtney & Aimee Carrero

Jason Momoa just doesn’t want to leave Hawaii, and honestly, who can blame him? After fun was had starring with Dave Bautista in The Wrecking Crew, Momoa is back on the island for Protecting Jared, a two-hander action-comedy for Netflix from Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Zombieland, and Venom director Ruben Fleischer.

Deadline reports Momoa will star with Andy Samberg, Jai Courtney, and Aimee Carrero in Protecting Jared, with production currently underway in Oahu, Hawaii. The script is by SNL writers Rob Klein and John Solomon, so expect it to lean hard into the comedy aspect.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any plot details other than it’ll be an action-comedy set in Oahu. Momoa has been keen on developing projects that bring work to Hawaii, including the Apple TV series Chief of War. He’ll be seen next in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Three.

Samberg was last seen in marital dramedy The Roses, and lent his voice to two Oscar-nominated animated films, Arco and Zootopia 2. Carrero has a third season of Apple’s series Your Friends and Neighbors coming up. Courtney can be seen right now with Alan Ritchson in Netflix’s War Machine.
