New ‘Supergirl’ Teasers Reveal Jason Momoa As Lobo And It’s Kinda…Meh

Well, Jason Momoa wanted it, and now he’s got it. After playing Aquaman for a handful of DC movies, Momoa asked for and got his dream role. Lobo, the intergalactic bounty hunter of the DC Universe has finally arrived, and we get our first look at him in the latest Supergirl spots.

To be perfectly honest, the glimpses we get, both pretty much the same, with Lobo skidding in on his motorcycle, aren’t that impressive. The makeup looks kinda cheap. It’s still early yet, and perhaps he looks better the more we get to see him in action.

Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, a punk rock, hard-partying Kryptonian who is still dealing with the trauma of losing her entire planet, her family, everything. The film is based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King, and finds her joining with Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young girl on a quest for revenge after witnessing a tragedy.

Matthias Schoenaerts plays the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, and if you’re wondering why Kara looks sad over an ailing Krypto, well, it’s because of him. Readers of the comic know what’s up and I won’t spoil it.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) from a script by Ana Nogueira, who is also writing DC’s Wonder Woman movie.  Eve Ridley plays Ruthye Marye Knoll, with David Krumholtz as Kara’s father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as her mother, Alura In-Ze.

SYNOPSIS: When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl hits theaters on June 26th.
