Look up! Up in the sky! It’s the new trailer for James Gunn’s Superman! The first and most important film for DC Studios has a lot riding on its success. With the film hitting theaters and IMAX on July 11th, a brand new trailer and poster have finally arrived featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
This trailer is interesting because it shows Superman being interviewed by Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, and Supes is clearly on the defensive. His actions as a hero, y’know, saving the world and stopping wars, aren’t being appreciated by everyone and the government is looking to put a stop to him. We see Frank Grillo reprising his Peacemaker role as ARGUS boss Rick Flag Sr.
The footage then cuts to a series of action shots, Krypto fighting off villains led by Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, Green Lantern and the JSA, and so much more. Again, my feeling is that Gunn is trying to cram too much into one movie, but I have faith in him to tell an entertaining Superman story nonetheless.
Also in the cast are Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, along with Wendell Pierce, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, Christopher McDonald, and Alan Tudyk.
SYNOPSIS: “Superman,” DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.
