There can be only one!! Well, in this case, there are two. Two images from Chad Stahelski’s long-awaited Highlander reboot starring Henry Cavill have debuted. The actor dropped the photos on his Instagram account with the caption…
“Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy. #Highlander”
The photos show Cavill’s character, Connor McLeod, in two different holy places. Holy ground is neutral territory for the immortals, and is one of the few rules none of them would dare break.
It’s been a long time coming. The original film launched in 1986, led by Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as immortals engaged in an epic war until only one remains. That led to numerous sequels of varying quality. In 2008, the journey began to reboot the franchise, with Stahelski coming aboard to direct in 2016. Stahelski is known as creator of the John Wick movies and their spinoffs, including Ballerina. Undoubtedly, Highlander will feature the kind of graceful action that Stahelski is known for.
Also in the cast are Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Maria Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Jeremy Irons.
Highlander is expected to arrive in 2027 from Amazon MGM Studios.
