Yesterday in The Boston Globe, A24 planted a mock engagement to help hype up its upcoming film The Drama, which stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The article is a puff piece, a social blurb about the upcoming nuptials of their characters, Emma Harwood and Charlie Thompson.
And now today comes the release of the official trailer for director Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama. Borgli is the director of the Nic Cage dark comedy Dream Scenario. The film also boasts Ari Aster as a producer, so you probably know not to expect a straight-arrow romance here.
The story, penned by Borgli, follows an engaged couple just days away from marriage, who find the relationship put to the test when one learns a disturbing secret about the other.
Also in the cast are Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates.
SYNOPSIS: A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.
The Drama opens in theaters on April 3rd 2026.
