The new trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has arrived, and before you even ask “Why???”, it’s for damn good reason. The previous film was the highest-grossing horror of 2023 and an all-timer for Blumhouse with $291M globally, despite being released simultaneously in theaters and streaming. Will the sequel be just as much of a success? We’re going to find out when it hits theaters exclusively next month. Maybe there’s potential for it to do even better?
Emma Tammi returns to direct from a script by Scott Cawthon, creator of the bestselling horror video game franchise from which the film is based. Josh Hutcherson is back as ex-Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza night security guard Mike Schmidt, with Elizabeth Lail as police officer Vanessa, and Piper Rubio as Abby, Mike’s younger sister who is in the dark about the fate of her animatronic friends that tried to kill them all in the last movie. Mathew Lillard returns as serial killer William Afton. Skeet Ulrich, Mckenna Grace, Wayne Knight, and Teo Briones have joined the fun, too. Megan Fox voices Toy Chica, too, which is pretty cool. In this trailer we also get a look at the infamous animatronic Springtrap, the game’s deadliest antagonist.
SYNOPSIS: One year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The stories about what transpired there have been twisted into a campy local legend, inspiring the town’s first ever Fazfest. Former security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) have kept the truth from Mike’s 11-year-old sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), concerning the fate of her animatronic friends. But when Abby sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it will set into motion a terrifying series of events, revealing dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy’s, and unleashing a long-forgotten horror hidden away for decades.”
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hits theaters on December 5th from Universal Pictures.
