Wasn’t John Williams talking about retiring a couple of years ago? Weren’t The Fabelmans and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny supposed to be the end of the line? Fortunately for all of us, this is no longer the case, as the 93-year-old composer is coming back to score Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO film.
The news was confirmed by Juilliard president Damian Woetzel, who said Williams is currently in Los Angeles working alongside Spielberg for the 30th (!!!) time. Their first collaboration was 1974’s The Sugarland Express. Of Williams’ incredible 52 Oscar nominations, 17 of them were for scoring Spielberg movies.
Spielberg’s untitled UFO movie stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Wyatt Russell, along with pro wrestlers Chavo Guerrero Jr., Brian Cage, and Lance Archer. It’s set to open on June 12th 2026.
