‘The Hand That Rocks The Cradle’ Trailer: Maika Monroe Infiltrates Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Home In Hulu’s Remake

There was a time when the domestic thriller was like printing money at the box office, and one of the best was 1992’s The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, a highlight of Rebecca De Mornay’s career. This genre of film has mostly found a new home on streaming, and Hulu is getting in the game with a remake starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Maika Monroe.

The plot remains essentially the same. Winstead stars as a new suburban mom in desperate need of help around the house. Monroe plays the nanny who turns her home into a nightmare.

Also in the cast are Raul Castillo, Martin Starr, Mileiah Vega, Riki Lindhome, and Shannon Cochran.

Director Michelle Garza Cervera follows up her impressive directorial debut, 2022’s Huesera: The Bone Woman. Micah Bloomberg adapts Amanda Silver’s screenplay from the original film.

SYNOPSIS: Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Caitlin Morales, an upscale suburban mom who brings a new nanny, Polly Murphy (Maika Monroe), into her home, only to discover she is not the person she claims to be.

Hulu will release The Hand that Rocks the Cradle on October 22nd.
