- The Conjuring: Last Rites (review)- $83M
While the franchise has been diminishing in recent years, clearly there’s still a lot of love out there for Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Conjuring: Last Rites, the reported end of the horror series led by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, opened with a franchise best $83M. That beats The Nun’s $53m debut back in 2018. Worldwide, the film already boasts $187M, with $104M of that overseas, becoming the highest-earning international horror bow ever. So while this is meant to be the end of road, numbers like these almost guarantee the story isn’t completely over. These movies have always been critic proof and that trend continues, with the film having just 56% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter and 79% from audiences.
