‘The Batman Part II’ Shoots Next Spring; James Gunn Writing Next “Super” Family Movie

Things are about to get very busy around DC Studios, as THR reports on a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders about the future of The Batman Part II and the next movie in James Gunn’s “Super” franchise.

According to the report, Matt Reeves will begin shooting on The Batman Part II in Spring 2026. That fits with the planned release date on October 1st 2027. We learned last month that Reeves and Mattson Tomlin had turned in the screenplay for a more “grounded” look at the deeper corruption in Gotham City.

Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman, further filling up the actor’s busy dance card. He has Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing coming up this month so he’s doing press for that. But he also has Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 3, a pair of huge blockbusters.

It was also confirmed that Gunn is writing “the next installment in the Super family.” This is the film that Gunn has been saying isn’t a true sequel to Superman, but something that the Kryptonian hero will be a major part of. Details on the film remain a mystery. Is it a Superboy movie? A World’s Finest movie? Or maybe a Superman/Supergirl crossover? Speaking of which, this next “Super” film should arrive after next year’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Clayface, and Wonder Woman.
