Legendary’s MonsterVerse is strong, and it ain’t goin’ nowhere. Fans knew that a sequel to last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was coming, especially since it earned over $570M. And now we know the film’s official title, and it suggests the devastation we’ve already seen is just an appetizer. The new film is titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and I can already imagine a certain kaiju’s atomic breath incinerating everything into oblivion.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova will hit theaters on March 26th 2027, a date that had already been established. Dan Stevens is, for now, the only returning actor, reprising his role as Trapper. He’s joined by The Last of Us star Kaitlyn Dever, Jurassic Park veteran Sam Neill, Sinners duo Jack O’Connell and Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, and Alycia Debnam-Carey
Grant Sputore takes over as director from Adam Wingard, who directed the previous two movies. Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green wrote the script.
Supernova marks the sixth movie in the MonsterVerse franchise that began with Godzilla in 2014. That was followed by Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla x Kong, and The New Empire.
Warner Bros. dropped a new teaser announcing Supernova and the start of production. Check it out below!
