‘The Beekeeper 2’ Buzzes Over To Amazon MGM, Filming Begins In September

The Beekeeper scored a massive $163M last year, proving that Jason Statham beating up bad people never goes out of style. Well, the upcoming sequel could do even better, and that’s why Amazon MGM has just scooped up the worldwide rights for what Deadline says is a deal north of $50M.

Amazon MGM distributed The Beekeeper domestically, but they want the whole pie this time around. The sequel returns Statham to the role of retired assassin Adam Clay, who previously took on a bunch of scammers and politicians who preyed on the weak. It’s unclear who Clay will beat up this time, but I’m sure they’ll deserve it.

The Beekeeper 2 will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2) from a Kurt Wimmer script. He took over for David Ayer, who moved on to direct Statham in A Working Man, also for Amazon MGM, and has earned nearly $100M worldwide.

Filming on The Beekeeper 2 begins in September.
