‘Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning’ Trailer: Is This The End For Ethan Hunt And The IMF Team?

Is this the end? With a title of Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning, it certainly seems like we’re seeing the last of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. 2023’s Dead Reckoning Part One wasn’t all that Paramount hoped for, earning $571M on a massive budget. The sequel’s budget has skyrocketed to over $400M, which has led the studio to lean into the possibility of it being the franchise’s final chapter.

Following a CinemaCon presentation that went over extremely well with audiences, a new trailer for Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning is here. Ethan Hunt and his IMF team continue their battle against a rogue AI that is threatening to destroy the world.

Behind the camera once again is Cruise’s pal Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the script with Erik Jendresen. Over the years McQuarrie and Cruise have done everything to push the envelope on death-defying stunts, and based on this footage they aren’t holding back in putting the actor’s health in jeopardy. Makes me wonder what the insurance premiums on Cruise must be.

Also in the cast are Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Vanessa Kirby. Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, and Nick Offerman, with Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Taran Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.

Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning opens on May 23rd.
