It’s been far too long since we’ve seen Tom Hiddleston on the big screen outside of the MCU, not since 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. Yeah, that long ago. While he’s set to return as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, fans of Hiddleston will get to see him first in The Life of Chuck, NEON’s anticipated film based on the work of Stephen King.
The latest King adaptation from director Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game), The Life of Chuck stars Hiddleston as Charles “Chuck” Krantz, an ordinary guy with a love for dancing. His tragic but also life-affirming story is told in three chapters presented in reverse chronologically.
As far as King adaptations go from Flanagan, this one is more on the light-hearted side, which made it a crowd-pleasing favorite following the TIFF world premiere.
Also in the cast are Jacob Tremblay, Benjamin Pajak, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Annalise Basso, Samantha Morton, and Mia Sara, with Nick Offerman as the narrator.
Here’s the official synopsis: From the hearts and minds of Stephen King and Mike Flanagan comes “The Life of Chuck,” the extraordinary story of an ordinary man. This unforgettable, genre-bending tale celebrates the life of Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz as he experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.
NEON releases The Life of Chuck in theaters on June 6th.
