‘Jurassic Park’ Vet Sam Neill Joins The MonsterVerse And Next ‘Godzilla X Kong’ Film

Who better to tame the warring ways of giant apes and lizards than someone who has spent decades staring down dinosaurs? Joining the next MonsterVerse film and sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is Jurassic Park franchise star Sam Neill.

THR reports Neill is officially part of the MonsterVerse in an unknown role. While it’d be nice to see the New Zealand actor reprise his role as Dr. Alan Grant, that’s not going to happen here. Neill joins a cast that includes a returning Dan Stevens monster veterinarian Trapper, plus franchise newcomers Matthew Modine, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, and Alycia Debnam-Carey. O’Connell and Lindo reunite following Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which opens this week.

Following director Adam Wingard’s exit, the directing reins were passed to Grant Sputore (I Am Mother), working from a script by Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham.

Fans of the MonsterVerse have a lot to be happy about. Not only do they get this new film arriving on March 26th 2027, but a second season of Apple’s series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which recently added Prey and Novocaine star Amber Midthunder.

Neill was last seen opposite Annette Bening in the Peacock miniseries, Apples Never Fall.
