Tom Holland can’t star in Spider-Man 4 all by himself, but for months it’s seemed like he might. Finally we’re getting some additional casting news, and it’s a big one as Deadline reports Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has joined the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios sequel in an unknown role.
And there’s the big question: Who will Sadie Sink play? The report claims the prevailing theory is that she’s X-Men telepath and bearer of the Phoenix Force, Jean Grey. But it would be an odd place for a major X-Man to debut in a Spider-Man movie, right? Other famous redheads more closely associated with the webhead are obviously in the mix. Maybe Firestar?
That said, it also sounds like Sink’s role will be a big one, given the way Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded. With Peter Parker wiping any memory of his existence to the world, it could mean smaller roles for supporting cast Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and more.
Sink is having a moment. Her latest film O’Dessa recently premiered at SXSW and debuts on Hulu next week.
The plan is for Destin Daniel Cretton to begin production later this year in the UK. Spider-Man 4, which will presumably get a better title, then hits theaters on July 31st 2026.
