James Bond’s first cinematic mission for Amazon MGM Studios has a new pair of handlers. With longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson having recently given up creative control to the studio, their replacements have quickly been found.
Amazon MGM has announced that Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the next James Bond film. Pascal is best known for her work on Sony’s Spider-Man movies, but she also has 007 experience on Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Spectre,and Skyfall, the franchise’s most successful stretch.
Heyman is the veteran producer behind the entire Harry Potter franchise for Warner Bros. He’s currently working on the upcoming Max reboot series.
Pascal is producing through her Pascal Pictures label, with Heyman through his Heyday Films banner.
“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure,” the duo said in a statement.
One imagines the first big decision for Pascal and Heyman will be casting the next James Bond. Fans have been wishlisting loads of actors for years, but now the time is here for that to finally happen because you know Amazon wants to start pumping these movies out quickly.
