New ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel Adds Jack O’Connell And Delroy Lindo

The MonsterVerse has been a titan at the box office for Legendary, ever since the decade-long cinematic universe began. The five films have combined for over $2.5B at the box office, with no clear signs of slowing down. Following last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, another sequel is in the works and since it can’t all be about monsters slugging it out, there are new additions to the cast.

THR reports that Jack O’Connell and Delroy Lindo have joined the untitled MonsterVerse film. They are the latest additions to a cast that already has Dan Stevens reprising his role as Titan veteinarian Trapper, and Kaitlyn Dever as a new character who will be a sibling to O’Connell.

Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham penned the screenplay, which will reportedly follow “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”

Honestly, that could be the logline for every MonsterVerse film.

Adam Wingard directed the last two movies but with him having stepped aside to pursue his action film Onslaught, Grant Sputore took over based on his work on the sci-fi thriller I Am Mother.

O’Connell and Lindo will both be seen next in Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror Sinners, so a nice reunion for those two.

Fans of the MonsterVerse have a lot to be happy about. Not only do they get this new film arriving on March 26th 2027, but a second season of Apple’s series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
