Jeremy Allen White To Voice Rotta The Hutt In ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

The Bear is headed to a galaxy far far away. Variety reports that Jeremy Allen White has joined the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu, the upcoming Star Wars film from Jon Favreau. White will be taking on the voice role of Rotta the Hutt, the son of crime kingpin Jabba the Hutt. The character has been seen in episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which Rotta is kidnapped by forces loyal to Count Dooku, but is ultimately rescued by the Jedi and Ahsoka Tano.

The presence of Rotta in the film is the first real plot info we have on the film. A spinoff of The Mandalorian Disney+ series, The Mandalorian & Grogu also takes place following The Return of the Jedi. In that film, Jabba is strangled to death by Princess Leia, leaving a void in the criminal underworld. In The Book of Boba Fett, we see the notorious bounty hunter and Fennec Shand step in to fill that void after defeating Rotta’s cousins, taking over Jabba’s territory. It stands to reason that Rotta might be looking to get it back.

This is White’s first major movie franchise role, and, surprisingly, it’s for his voice. That leaves open the possibility of him joining Star Wars later in a more visible role open. He’s currently shooting Scott Cooper’s Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere in which he plays the legendary New Jersey rocker.

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22nd 2026.
